Our furnace gave out during one of the coldest days in Chicago. My father’s home was built in 1881 and has a 15-radiator system that heats a two-flat. When we turned on the heat, we discovered water leaking—and eventually gushing—from the radiator system in the basement. I began calling HVAC and plumbing companies throughout the Chicago area, but the responses were disappointing. Several companies said they didn’t service our area, one wanted to charge just to assess the problem, and another technician said he couldn't come because it was “too nice outside to be working.” Then I reached Brothers Heating and Cooling. Mr. Sergio Torres answered immediately. After hearing the situation, he calmly guided me over the phone on how to shut everything down safely—gas, water, and electricity—to prevent further damage, without charging me. He said that ensuring our safety mattered more to him than making an extra buck—and that peace of mind is priceless. His professionalism and willingness to help right away already set him apart. The next day, Sergio came to our home, inspected the system, and provided a clear quote. Our boiler dated back to 1977, and the condition of the system was obvious in the photo. Although his price was slightly higher than others, we chose him because of his stellar reviews—and we are grateful we did. He replaced the entire system with excellent workmanship. While removing the old boiler, he also noticed our water heater was leaking. Two days later, we lost hot water. Sergio returned the very next day and installed a new water heater with all new copper piping. He even pointed out shortcuts a previous plumber had taken, which explained some of the long-standing issues. What truly impressed us is that even after we had paid him in full, Sergio still returned to our home to complete final touches and personally ensure that everything was working perfectly. That level of commitment is rare. He is truly a man of his word. I hardly ever write reviews or recommend businesses, but Mr. Sergio Torres and his team have earned it. Their professionalism, honesty, and quality of work were exceptional. The before-and-after pictures speak for themselves. You can clearly see the difference. Our thermostat was super old and it was NOT user friendly. We woke up and it was set at 65 and would not adjust. I called Brothers Heating & Cooling Inc. in a panic and Sergio was able to come same day to install a new thermostat. Before installing, he checked our furnace to ensure it was working properly and thankfully it is! He was able to give us some tips on filters, etc. which we are super thankful for. Super friendly and very thorough to ensure we understood how things work. Thank you!

I had a heat issue this morning and when I searched for Heating companies in my area and Brothers Heating & Cooling was the first I saw. There were other companies listed but I didn’t call them. I asked my mom to look for me too because I was on my way to work and when she looked Brother’s Heating and Cooling was what she sent to me. I called and spoke to Sergio and asked him if it was any way he could come and check out my issue with my heat. He gave me a time and I had to reschedule for later in the day. I texted him to change the time and he was very accommodating. Sergio and company came by looked at the unit found out some information and pulled the filter out and recommended the correct size filter I needed.
